About Us

Who are we?
Dreamivill is an officially registered non-profit social enterprise and a center for dream development. As part of the bigger vision of Dreamivill we have started an incubation hub for local unemployed youth where they are challenged to dream an entrepreneurial future and are given the training and skills needed to turn these dreams into a reality.

Dreamivill is creating a unique environment where deprived youth can come to get inspired and develop their knowledge and skills to turn their dreams into reality.
At Dreamivill we want to make a difference and unlock the potential of Ghanaian youth to solve the many pressing problems Ghana and the world is facing today. Entrepreneurship hubs have become very popular over the past decade and they are successfully boosting the entrepreneurial environment through facilitating training and networking. Unfortunately these hubs are most often located in capital cities or other urban areas and attract fees for participation which make them inaccessible for those located in the rural areas.

Not at Dreamivill! At Dreamivill we specifically target unemployed and deprived youth in the rural areas who so often get stranded after dropping out of school or after graduating senior high school but lacking the funds to further their education.

Goals & Objectives
1. To enhance Creativity and Entrepreneurship development among unemployed youth, especially in the rural North of Ghana
2. To create an enabling environment for young people where they are empowered to grow their knowledge and skills which they need to become successful (social) entrepreneurs
3. To engage youth to take a leadership role in organizing community based activities that promote positive lifestyles and care for the environment
4. The programme will contribute to the reduction of unemployment and poverty as well improvement of social inclusion in rural areas

Problem Statement
Ghana is dealing with a high level of youth unemployment. Many students drop out of school at an early age or end up not passing their senior high school diploma. Others simply lack the funds to access tertiary education. Even those fortunate to go to college or university find it difficult to find jobs and they have not been trained to start a business by themselves, leaving a lot of potential unleashed and going to waste. In the rural North these problems are much higher than the national average and most youth aspire to go to urban areas seeking greener grass.

Solution
Dreamivill offers a one year working and learning program in collaboration with Green Gold social enterprise and Vera Blazek foundation. We offer a unique program to a maximum of 20 unemployed youth annually between the age of 16 and 28 years old. We target both males and females who have the aspiration to become entrepreneurs and just need a facilitating push to turn their dreams into reality. It is a very practical program where working and learning go hand in hand. In the mornings the students will get on the job experience by working at the innovative social enterprise Green Gold where in the afternoon there is wide variety of training in ICT, entrepreneurial skills, public speaking, proposal writing, exposure to new technologies, individual mentoring sessions and more. At the end of the year students are required to have a finished business plan and in the following year they will continue to be mentored and facilitated at our hub.

The main requirement for candidates to access the program is to be proficient in English. The program will take them through a wide variety of topics, including:
•    Dream Development
•    Basic ICT skills
•    Practical artisan skills development
•    Software development
•    Basic record keeping and accounting
•    Public speaking and presenting
•    Writing a business plan
•    Pitching
•    Marketing and sales
•    Innovative, sustainable farming methods
•    Business startup and MVP essentials
•    Investment and fund raising
•    Social responsibility

Project Details
During the program we invite experienced (social) entrepreneurs and consultants to share their expertise with the students. These experts consist of both successful Ghanaian entrepreneurs who have found innovative solutions to practical problems faced by people living at the base of the pyramid, as well as experts from all over the world who will share their technical know-how in fields like solar energy, bio digestive toilets, improved building techniques, recycling and more. By exposing the candidates to these innovative ideas and techniques, students get the opportunity to expand their horizons and develop their knowledge and skills. Through intensive mentoring the students are guided into finding their own path. The program runs in close collaboration with Green Gold social enterprise. Students enter a working/learning year where their training is combined with practical work for an inspiring agriculture and agriprocessing business. This allow us to offer the training free of charge and makes it accessible to all classes of society including the very poor.
Key selection criteria are:
•    Proficiency in the English language
•    Interest in personal development and leadership
•    Traits of problem solver
•    Creativity
•    Having a personal vision
•    Passion to make a positive change in the community
Interviews, recommendations and writing exercises are used as tools in the selection process.

Financial sustainability
For the startup phase of the project we are financed through grants, the Vera Blazek foundation, personal funds, gifts and financial support from Green Gold social enterprise. External experts volunteer their time to support the project. To create sustainability on the long run, students who have successfully come out of the program with a running enterprise, give up 8% of their equity to Dreamivill which will be used to sustain the program.

Current situation:
Currently a Nubian Vault has been built which serves as a training facility and has been equipped with computers and basic teaching and learning equipment. Several entrepreneurs and experts have already committed to volunteer their time for the program. We have started admitting students to the program and the official launch of the program will take place in October 2018.

The two major critical factor that are currently not established yet is first of all a stable internet connection which is essential for our students to gain access to many online resources and also to be able to connect with their mentors through online mentoring sessions. Creating a dedicated internet setup will also allow Dreamivill to create a professional hotspot which allows the project to generate income to sustain the project. Secondly there is a need to build a workshop where students will have the space and access to necessary tools to built prototypes. For the workshop we need to built a new structure and there is a need for equipment and building materials to enable students to create prototypes (e.g.carpentry-, welding-, recycling equipment, 3D printer etc.)
Current financial needs:
Description    Amount (USD)
Internet facility installation    9.500
Construction of workshop    7.500
Artisan Machinery (Carpentry, Masonry, Metal Works, Plumbing, etc)    10.000
Office equipment    2.500
Computers    3.000
Training materials (projector, paper, pens etc)    2.000
Materials to create prototypes    2.000
3D-printer    5.000
Total    41.500

Impact Measurement
During the selection process, candidates will be interviewed to determine their present and future plans. These interviews will be repeated after 2 and 5 months during the training to understand the growth and development of the beneficiaries. Follow-up interviews will also be conducted after the training to understand the impact on the beneficiaries and also to improve the program. The level of motivation participant’s display in the training activities will also be used to measure its impact.
The ultimate impact measurement of this training will be measured by the number of beneficiaries that have successfully started their own enterprise, the number of people they employ and the impact they have in their community.
Time frame

The enterprise Dreamivill has no limited time line and will continue to run the above program or similar until there is no longer a need for such a program. The programme itself is expected to run for a year per group of trainees.
Monitoring and Evaluation
There will be two evaluations during the course of this project. The first will be during the development phase - evaluation will take place though interviews & surveys, to obtain feedback from stakeholders during the testing period of the programme. The data gathered will be analyzed, and necessary changes will be made to the curriculum. The second evaluation will take place when the curriculum is finalized. Another indicator for success is the successful completion of the program and the start-up of new businesses by Participants.
